World Cup Facts

Its almost here folks! World Cup fever is truly in the air and all eyes will be set in Brazil in two weeks time. As the world gets set to witness some of the best soccer players of our lifetime play for the pride of their nation, it is always fun to read some trivia and some storylines as we head into the tournament. And luckily for you, that's exactly what I have here. My goal was to have atleast 100 facts but we shall see how far this goes

1) 910 million viewers tuned in to watch the 2010 World Cup Final
2) Miraslov Klose is the oldest German player on the squad aged 35 years old and has scored 14 goals in 3 World Cup tournaments. 
3) Klose is 1 goal shy of tying Ronaldo's (The Brazilian Ronaldo's) record for most goals in a World Cup tournament (15).
4) The United States are 100/1 odds to win the World Cup.
5) The United States have never won a game against Ghana, Portugal, or Germany in a WC tournament.
6) You should probably have a backup team to root for after the group stages.
The United States women's team is so much better
7) The last time Brazil hosted a world cup was in the year 1950.
8) Uruguay beat Brazil 2-1 in the final that year.
9) Uruguay are 25/1 favorites to win the World Cup in 2014.
10) Luis Suarez scored 31 goals in the Premiership this season.
11) Look for Forlan, Cavani and Suarez to make up a solid attacking trio upfront
12) Uruguay are my dark horses to win the World Cup
13) Brazil head into the tournament as favorites (3/1 odds)

25) England are clearly in rebuilding mode and its about time they were
26) Falcao is ruled out of the World Cup for Colombia.
27) And with that news, Columbia's faint world cup hopes are dashed.

30) Winning the World Cup in 2014 would be a remarkable feat
31) Tiki Taka might be boring but has been effective for them so far

33) There is no reason for it to not work again.
34) But does anyone really want Spain to win again? It will just create more boring predictable headlines

41) Louis Van Gaal would certainly love to win the WC for the dutch before leaving the team to manage Manchester United

51) By his standards, he's had an average year
52) The World Cup is the perfect stage for him to silence his critics

54) If Kun Aguero stayed healthy, Suarez woudlve had some serious competition for the golden boot
55) Angel Di Maria was an unsung hero for Real Madrid all year round
56) He wont be the unsung hero for Argentina if he plays like he did for Madrid this year
57) Argentina's defense worries me big time
58) Argentina are this year's Liverpool of the world cup. Great attacking options, defensively, not so good
59) Edin Dzeko plays for Boznia and Herzegovina
60)  Boznia and Herzegovina finished top of their qualifying group
61) Boznia and Herzegovina will be a team that will surprise a lot of people this summer
62) Greece is literally the most boring team to watch on the planet
63) And they have so many unpronounceable names on their squad sheet
64) France squeaked into the world cup after coming back from 2-0 against Ukraine in the playoff game
65) I just really dont like France after the shenanigans they did in the last World Cup
66) And they robbed the Republic of Ireland after Thierry henry decided to become a Kobe Bryant on the field
67) I really am biased. My goodness
68) New Zealand were the only undefeated team in the 2010 World Cup (3 draws)
69) Even Spain lost to Chile in the group stages that year
70) Yaya Toure is a self pompous buffoon
71) Kolo Toure is just a clown
72) The Ivory Coast need them to be on top form along with Didier Drogba
73) Belgium is one of the most underrated teams going into this tournament
74) My unlikely surprise golden boot winner: Romelu Lukaku
75) Honduras actually has a national football team
76) Shakira is so hot
77) So is Rebecca Lowe
78) Im really not sure why ESPN didn't hire her to host the games
79) Steve McMannaman played for Liverpool and Real Madrid
80) Not sure why I mentioned the above fact
81) Gareth Bale is unfortunately Welsh, not English
82) Could you imagine how raw England would be with him in the team?
83) ESPN is hosting the World Cup for the last time for a while
84) FOX will take over from 2018. 
85) I will kill myself if FOX decides to have Joe Buck announcing the final of that World Cup
86) Im running out of facts as you can tell
87) The World Cup will be much, much better than 2010 as far as pure entertainment goes
88) NO MORE VUVUZELAS! Thank goodness!
